No-waste Scavenger Hunt
University of West Florida Provost Office, Leadership, Enhancement, Activities & Development (LEAD)
The no-waste scavenger hunt shown below is available for public use on the Edward Ball Nature Trail and is designed for ages 2+
HOW THE HUNT WORKS
People ages 2+ play by using a smartphone to visit the scavenger hunt website that was developed by another member of our group. The website displays prompts which players match up with the scavenger hunt signs they find on the trail (see picture above). There are 20 signs total, each featuring either an animal or object associated with our area or University.
Design Process:
The design of each sign adhered to these parameters: The signs needed to have enough contrast to be clearly visible on the trail, the text size had to be easy to read, the images had to be engaging to our young audience, and the visual content needed to be arranged to accommodate mounting on the uChannel posts.

Project background
The project is funded through the provost office as part of LEAD (Leadership, Enhancement, Activities & Development), a selective one-year leadership program for staff at the University of West Florida. This was our project which we broke down into three components:
Adding directional on-campus signs for visitors to find the trail
Adding directional on-trail signs for easier way finding
Creating a no-waste scavenger hunt for young hikers
